Turning the Page: speaking truth to Power

Blessing Behavioral Health

I’m nervous to write this one. More nervous than when I helped report the Judge in OH and the doctors and psychologists complicit in his child trafficking. I was correct about them. I am correct about this too.

I have personal and direct evidence that our local Quincy, IL hospital is kidnapping citizens, forcing them into the psychiatric hospital in-patient against their will and not allowing them to consent to leave. I have spoken to adults, taken from their home without warrant or judicial signature by Quincy PD. One who worked at Blessing, reported by Blessing, and then arrested to be held in-patient using Blessing insurance. They used internal insurance to fund keeping our neighbors, financially propping up their institution.

One brave nurse in psychiatry told me the psychiatrist in charge asks nurses to draw injections of anti-psychotic medications and immediately inject them as soon as they enter an adult room, without ever having spoken to that patient or performed an assessment before. They do this to escalate protocols and keep the patient longer. It is assault. The patient cannot leave. To be held against your own consent without judicial signature or court petition is illegal.

I approached QPD about this three occasions. Every time QPD says that they simply did what Blessing told them and that they trust Blessing. That patients are safe at Blessing. Review the body cam footage. They are aware Blessing is detaining citizens without cause or warrant. They are complicit.

Adults are treated differently than children. They see in-person psychiatry. Children see no physician. Their parents can speak to no doctor or therapist. When parents ask to speak to someone about treatment or plan, they are told providers don’t speak to families. Meanwhile, Blessing administered medical tests to start antipsychotics on a child they haven’t seen, without parental consent, and told the child their results were bad. The child believed they were sick and needed help. Technicians are giving fake results to medically fragile children without their parents present or consenting to medical testing. Parents and doctors haven’t seen these tests or the results. It remains unclear how medical files are being hidden.

Parents are being denied phone calls and visitation with their children. Calls are being ignored, not answered or hung up on. People are awaiting entrance to visitation and not being allowed in. Their children, crying and wondering why their families don’t care. This escalates the situation. Disabled visitors are being denied reasonable accommodation, including service dog admission. I have seen parents scream and cry, holding their babies like they will never see them again. Crying to take them home. Patients reported being held for a year or longer in an exclusively short-term facility.

Multiple parents have confided in me that while they have legal custody of their children and wish to bring them home, Blessing refuses discharge. Instead, they have a school inside the hospital for only short-term emergent stabilization where our local kids are forced to conduct their education. This room is in plain sight.

The most disgusting thing? The whole unit is held in plain sight in their new cancer building. Our local community financed a cancer wing. Not a kidnapping scheme and a fraudulent billing scheme. They are making oncology infusion income off the backs of our sickest and most vulnerable cancer patients, all while also housing children and adults against their will right next door. Ever wonder why infusion closes right before visiting hours begin? They don’t want their oncology patients to know what the other desk is doing.

The money used to fund the cancer wing, actually built a psychiatric holding-pen. In violation of privacy laws and safety standards, this location can be seen by the naked eye. You can watch pediatric patients enjoy their art class or play basketball on the courtyard from your cancer center parking lot space. Even more terrifying is that it shares a location with the daycare center a stones throw away.

Next time you hear of someone going to cancer treatment or to drop their child at Blessing Early Learning, know what you are walking by. Know what you are funding. I ask you to vote with your wallet and to put your money where your mouth is. Boycott Blessing.

Blessing and Quincy PD take citizens without order, adults and children, and medically treat them without consent, all under color of law.

Next installment will expound on these basics. Stick with me while I do the work explaining these families stories in full.

Full entry coming next week.
